Dr. Toby Ishizuka

Dr Toby Ishizuka is a Board Certified Foot and Ankle specialist. He specializes in clinical and surgical care for both simple and complex foot and ankle problems.

Dr Ishizuka was raised in Honolulu, HI and attended the prestigious Punahou School. He received double bachelor’s degrees in biology and in psychology with Cum Laude honors from Gonzaga University in Spokane, WA, while also publishing his undergraduate research in invasion biology. He earned his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) degree and became a member of the Pi Delta Honor Society, from the California School of Podiatric Medicine in Oakland, CA. Following his medical school training, he completed a competitive and comprehensive 3-year Podiatric Medicine and Surgery Residency program with Reconstructive Rearfoot/Ankle Surgery based at Kaiser Permanente hospitals in San Francisco, Oakland, and Walnut Creek.

During his residency training, he completed over 1,000 surgical procedures and became proficient in a multitude of trauma surgery, sports medicine, elective surgery, ankle arthroscopy, minimally invasive surgery, complex/revision reconstruction, and limb salvage about the ankle and foot. He published his original research involving pediatric clubfoot surgery in the Journal of Foot and Ankle Surgery, presented scientific posters of lower extremity oncological cases at the American College Foot and Ankle Surgeons conference, and wrote a manuscript on melanoma of the toes. He also lectured on many topics including open ankle & foot fracture surgery and management, recurrent bunion surgery, limb salvage, and many more.

Dr Ishizuka relocated to Los Angeles and is excited to bring his knowledge, experience, passion and kindness to all of his patients. He takes pride in treating every patient as a family member, while approaching situations with state-of-the-art, evidence-based medicine coupled with sensible logic in order to solve and improve ankle and foot obstacles.

In his spare time Dr Ishizuka enjoys playing tennis, hiking, traveling, and cooking fabulous meals.
